Trace Carson, OMG senior vice president of association management, has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) distinction through the American Society for Association Executives.
According to ASAE’s Center for Association Leadership, the CAE program is “designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and designate association professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to manage an association in today’s challenging environment.” The program is accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies.
Carson, in one of OMG’s two Richmond offices, joins about 4,300 other industry leaders around the world who have attained this prestigious credential. OMG also has three other CAEs among its executives.
Carson received his Bachelor of Science in commerce from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce in 1988 and his MBA, with a concentration in marketing, from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992. He founded association management company (AMC) Catapult Inc. in 2000, overseeing all aspects of client management from administration to strategic planning, and joined with OMG in 2016.
“The CAE requires extensive experience, substantial training, study of theory and practice, demonstrated leadership, and significant preparation for passing a day-long test, and is recognized as the ‘gold standard’ in nonprofit association management,” said OMG President J. Michael Reitelbach, CAE RCE IOM.
“OMG encourages all of its executives to earn professional designations in their fields and is proud of Trace for marking this achievement. OMG’s capabilities and methods, all complemented by the talents and expertise of its staff, can benefit any association in any industry,” he added.
